RoarTrafficBot

RoarTrafficBot checks websites for search and AI-search problems on behalf of the people who own or manage them. If it visited your site, someone added your site (or named it as a competitor) in RoarTraffic. Before November 2026 the same crawler was called RankCanopyBot.

How it behaves

  • It reads and obeys your robots.txt for the user agent RoarTrafficBot, including Crawl-delay. Rules you wrote for its former name, RankCanopyBot, still apply; where the two differ, the stricter one wins.
  • It fetches public pages only: no forms, no logins, nothing behind a sign-in. At most two requests at a time to one site, with a pause between them.
  • A check of a site someone has not proved they own is limited to 100 pages; a competitor check to 10 pages, at most once a day.
  • For a site whose owner added it, a handful of key pages are also fetched once with the user-agent strings of AI search engines (OAI-SearchBot, Claude-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Googlebot, Bingbot, Applebot) and Googlebot, to see whether a firewall treats them differently. These requests come from our servers, not from those companies, and are never used to get past a block.

How to stop it

Add this to your robots.txt and it stops at the next check:

User-agent: RoarTrafficBot
Disallow: /
